Srinagar September 24 (INF): To curb the practice by some traders to sale spurious goods of Kashmir Handicrafts in the market , a team of handicrafts officers conducted inspection of the market at Pahalgam recently. It is for the second time that the market has been inspected in the recent days and some dealers were found displaying sign boards resembling name and style of Government concerns. The team immediately removed such sign boards and seized the material.
The team also disposed off trade complaints lodged by some tourists to their entire satisfaction.
Meanwhile, the department has again pressed upon the traders to sell only genuine Kashmir handicrafts items and get their establishment registered with the Directorate of Handicrafts under Tourist Trade Act. They should also affix specification and prize tags on each item on display in their shops or showrooms.No. PR/DM-2005/3750
